Hoosier-Daddy?

  • "It isn't the fact that we lost our best player on defense, it's that the QB we got, sucks!":

What was extremely funny about my 2.5 hour drive from Indy to Valpo, IN, is that I get the rare opportunity to listen Chicago-Land radio. Apparently, the citizens of Bears Country are more worried about Jay Cutler sucking it hard against the Packers of Green Bay rather then the fact they lost the heart and soul of that team in Brian Urlacher. "It was his worst performance he has ever...EVER HAD in the NFL! I mean, Kyle Orton in Denver had a better week then Jay Cutler, A PRO-BOWLER! (ESPN Radio Chicago)" I thought other teams (that I will not name...) had whiny fans, but Bears fans have taken the cake on this one. Now I will introduce a new segment in my blog...

Now it's time for JB's......REALITY CHECK!

PEOPLE OF CHI-TOWN!!! LEND ME YOUR EARS! Cutler will throw many interceptions...Cutler will throw many touchdowns. This is who Cutler is. The kid has a strong arm and laser guided accuracy...when he wants. He will take chances, he will make many mistakes, he will win you many games. If I could give the Bears a tid-bit of info...GET WIDE RECEIVERS! Devon Hester is a great player, a great kick returner, but he is not a good wide receiver...unless he is in a 20 yard bubble by himself. The 5'10" man is not tall enough to match up against the corner backs of this league.

Listen to me Bear fans! I am a Broncos fan. And I have watched Cutler for most of his short NFL career. YOU WILL BE OK! Cutler will turn things around and you team should be fine. Stop worrying about your QB, you lost your overall team captain and the heart of your defense. Worry about him, not Cutler...

  • NCAA Football time!:

#13 Va. Tech takes on the Cornsuckers of #15 Nebraska in Lane Stadium in Blacksburg, VA. Of course, I favor VT. My only concern, NEB defense is legit and the last time VT faced a stingy defense, Bama held VT to 65 yards on the ground.

#849375 Colorado plays Wyoming. This will be short and sweet. Wyoming...Cody Hawkins sucks. Nuff Said

#17 Cincinnati plays the Beavers of Oregon St, in Corvallis. The bearcats put on an asswhoopin' last week scoring over 70 points (and it wasn't against Indiana State Univ! Believe me, I was shocked). Oregon St. is trying to make a name for itself, even though I am sure everyone forgot the big win last year this team had over some team from southern California named after a condom brand. I will not be shocked if the Beavers pull this one out...no pun intended.

#2 Texas plays Texas Tech in Austin. This is a rematch of a shootout last year that was amazing to watch. I look for Colt McCoy to step up his play and carry his Longhorns on to victory.

  • World Football News (And this ain't your daddy's football neither!):

Soccer haters, please skip this section. I do not want to give you a headache from not being able to comprehend the World's Game! You have been warned!.......
Group play has started in the UEFA Champions League. My team, FC Bayern Munich, had a decisive 3-0 win over Hafia FC of Israel. With that win, FC Hollywood moves into their next match on 9/30 against the Juves of Juventus from Italy. A match that almost promises to be an amazing match. In league play, the Reds of Bayern currently sit in 3rd place in the Bundesliga behind Bayer and Hamburger SV by 2 points each. With a win today over Nuremberg, Bayern could take the #1 spot in the Bundesliga.

  • Homer News:

According to ESPN Insider, and the only insider I trust, Adam Schefter reports that Former Broncos Head Coach Mike Shanahan planned on cutting wideout Brandon Marshall after the Pro Bowl last season. Shanahan became annoyed with Marshall's off the field problems and felt he was unreliable on the field. Marshall led all NFL receivers with 206 catches, gaining a total of 2,590 yards over the last two seasons. Shanahan felt Marshall had cost the Broncos more victories by his poor route running, dropped passes and his tepid run-blocking efforts. Baby T.O. stuck again in week one when he dropped over 60% of passes thrown his way, including a bomb by Orton that went right through his hands. Is it too late to trade him?

The Rockies blew a 4-1 lead when Manager Jim Tracy turned the game over to the bullpen. Final score was 7-5 in favor of the D-Backs. How did the Giants do? They actually beat the frickin' dodgers! Rockies lead is 2.5 in the wild card...

With a 1-0 win over Long Island Univ., the George Mason Men's Soccer team is 6-1 and is off to one of the best starts in school history. On the 29th of this month, the Patriots will play host to the U of Maryland Twerps, NCAA Div I Soccer Champs. GO MASON!

  • Weird News:

CAEN, France - A French court has fined a preschool teacher $1,450 for biting the cheek of an allegedly unruly 4-year-old during a bathroom break.

The court in the Normandy town of Lisieux handed down the fine Wednesday over the March 2007 incident in the nearby town of Houlgate.

The teacher had denied the boy's claim and said he had been misbehaving. The ruling came after a medical report showed a bruise on his face.

The school reprimanded the 48-year-old teacher weeks afterward.

In keeping with French judicial practice, the court didn't identify the woman because she is still teaching.

NFL Week 1 in the books...

  • "The pass is tipped and...OH GOD! STOKLEY HAS IT!":

After a miserable first half of "Football" the Broncos somehow had a 3-0 lead at half time. As I sat in the basement with my family and friends, I started to wonder, was a prediction of 5-11 for my favorite team...possibly...overkill? As the second half went on, it became harder and harder to watch. Prior to Orton leading the Broncos on a 2-Minuet drill for the field goal at the half, the Broncos managed only 1 first down in the half, and that was on the opening drive. Kyle Orton went 17-28 for 243 yards and the game winning tipped-pass TD which was intended for Marshall who was in triple coverage. Orton did not have a turnover, which was a shock since in pre-season he averaged 2 per game.

Josh McDaniels finally showed some fire when after the Bungles scored their touchdown with 38 seconds in the 4th, the clock magically changed from 38 to 20 seconds. McDaniels called over the refs and gave them a piece of his mind. After the PAT attempt, it took the refs over 5 minuets to figure out that 18 seconds magically disappeared. I have been a critic of McDaniels, but today sir, I salute you...but I still am not sold on you...

The Mile High Magic Moment happened with 20 seconds left in the game. Denver was down 7-6 and had a hard time moving the ball all game. On the magical play, Orton dropped back a fired a pass to Marshall on the left sidelines. The pass was tipped by one of the three Defensive Backs guarding Marshall and Stokley was in the area and caught the tipped pass and was gone. Then, I would like to point out, Stokley pulled a Madden (video game) move. He runs down the goal line before going into the endzone to run time off the clock!

My last point on the Broncos game will be the defense. Defense n. - Means or tactics used in trying to stop the opposition from scoring (Websters). For Bronco fans, I figured this definition was needed because we haven't been able to see our team play this so called...defense. Denver's defense did not allow a score until 38 seconds left in the ball game...huh? They also had 2 interceptions...they did what? They also recorded multiple sacks...wtf? And the stopped the final drive of the Bungles to end the game...you mean they DID their job? Great Job D!

  • "We Finally Got Our Franchise QB"...or so you thought:

Jay Cutler made his first start for the Chi-Town Bears in an amazing spectacle that made most Bronco Fans...Smile! Not only did Cutler make the same rookie mistakes he made in his 2.5 years in Denver, but he one upped us...he tied his record for most interceptions in a game with 3 in the first half alone, including one to a defensive lineman who snagged it one handed inside the red zone, he broke his career best 3 INTs to 4 INTs when the cornerback, known as the Predator in Green Bay, picked off Cutler to end the game once and for all. Is it sad the Kyle "How so you play QB" Orton had a better day the Mr. Cry Baby himself?!

The Rockies are trying to find out there the offense went as the Padres win 2 of 3 games from the Rockies. The Dodgers just won't lose when the Rockies win, so the Rockies are 3 games back of the NL West Crown and 4.5 games up in the NL Wild Card Race.

In 2008, George Mason spent $1,965,002 on Men's Basketball alone. That seems like a lot until you hear that $1,965,002 was only big enough for 116th place. Who is first you ask? UNC? Florida? Even better! #1 biggest spender was Duke University spending $15,047,984, which is $5,661,649 more the 2nd place Kansas and almost $10 million more then rival, and current champions, UNC. A great day for sports, bad day for the World

  • The Lion will always live on:

A great American passed away today. Senator Edward Kennedy passed away from complications with brain cancer. Whether or not you agree with his policies, what you cannot dispute is that he fought for the people of this country. His strong mind and his compassion for all people let him to be a major player in the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act, the 1993 Family and Medical Leave Act and the Kennedy-Hatch law of 1997. A supporter of comprehensive healthcare, Kennedy fought with Pres. Clinton and Sen. Clinton for the reform this country needs. Although they feel short in their effort, he remained strong. In 2008, he stood with now President Obama and promised that health reform will come and Pres. Obama was the strongest candidate to make this a possibility. Sen. Kennedy, you have been a great inspiration to me in my short 22 years on this planet. Rest in Peace Sen. Edward Kennedy, This nation will miss you and I will miss you.

  • Back To Back:

Last night, Troy Tulowitzki hit a walk off single to beat Los Dodgers in 10 innings. The Rockies, back in June, were 15.5 games back from the NL West leaders but now sit just 2 games back by going 58-22 (ESPN). The Dodgers are very aware of the Rockies comeback, "We feel them coming. That is a good team," Dodgers manager Joe Torre said. "They keep playing. That's what you want a team to do is keep playing. They are very dangerous because they keep coming at you." Tonight, the Rockies try to attack the Dodgers again at Coors Field to cut the lead down to 1 game. Josh Fogg will make his first start of the season due to Aaron Cook being on the DL. EY2 will be in the game again after his professional debut yesterday where he got his first hit as a major-leaguer.

  • Homer News:

The Broncos announced the injury of Chris Sims today. A “high ankle sprain” has sidelined the backup QB for 2-4 weeks. Tom Brandstater will fill the role of #2 QB for the highly anticipated Broncos vs Bears at New Mile High Stadium (Yes, I refuse to call the new stadium by its corporate name).

The Rockies just sit 2 games back of the Dodgers after another walk off win in the 10th.

The Potomac Nationals won against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Unfortunately, the Wilmington Blue Rocks won as well. The PNats still sit 2.5 back of the final playoff spot.

George Mason midfielder Richard Edgar was named a candidate today for the 2009 Lowe's Senior CLASS award for men's soccer. Edgar is one of 30 candidates in the nation for the award. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence - classroom, character, community and competition (Gomason.com).

“Walk Off Grand Slam! You’ve Gotta Be Kidding Me!”

  • Leading off:

I would not be a real Rockies fan unless I started off with this...
HOLY CRAP SPILLY!!! WALK OFF GRAND SLAM TO WIN IT IN THE 14TH!!!!!!!!!
What a way to win the game! Jim Tracy with some amazing coaching telling pitcher Adam Eaton not to swing because he wanted Ryan Spilborghs to have a shot with the bases loaded, and did he ever come through! On a 0-1 count, Spilly drives a 96mph fastball to deep right center field for the first walk off grand slam in Rockies history. To read the MLB.com article and see the video, follow this link:

  • You Know What Grinds My Gears?:

Now with the amazing win comes a bit bad. The umpire crew was horrible. Now I normally don’t call out the umps, or any official, unless they deserved it. Home plate ump Angel Campos was incredibly inconsistent with his strike zone. At first, neither pitcher could get a strike call on the low outside corner, nor then a pitch later, in the same location, a strike, and then a ball. Late into the game we see this when Adam Eaton is batting. On a 3-0 count, Miller throws the ball on to the outside, clearly off the plate, and Ump Angel Campos called it a strike…a delayed strike. This means he had to think about it! Come on! Then the very next pitch, same location, same pitch, it is called a ball. Now I understand people make mistakes, but his mistakes calling balls and strikes could have been made by a tee-baller. With that said, Angel Campos, the Rockies are 3-0 with you at Coors Field, but please, PLEASE, learn how to stay constant. If you are not going to call the outside corner a strike, DON’T CALL IT A STRIKE THEN! But then again, Mr. Campos, you have stayed constant…constantly bad.

  • Homer News:

With the walk off grand slam, the Rockies are now 4 games up the NL Wild Card Race. The Rockies are also only 3 games back from 1st in the NL West with a critical 3 game series with the current NL West leaders LA Dodgers at Coors Field. Rockies are 2-10 against Los Dodgers going into the mid-week series.

The Broncos acquired OL Russ Hochstein from the NE Patriots for an undisclosed 2010 draft pick. Josh Mc-I will turn your team into Patriots West-Daniels is continuing to make a laughing stock out of the Denver Broncos by signing and trading for Patriot rejects. This will be a loooooong season.

Potomac Nationals lost to the birds of Myrtle Beach and are now sitting 2.5 games out of the final playoff spot. Tonight, the Potomac Nationals take on the Pelicans (Single-A Affiliate of the ATL Braves) to try to make up ground on the Wilmington Blue Rocks.

#29 George Mason Men’s Soccer kicked off another season with a win over #24 UVA, 1-0. The Men’s team is projected to win the CAA again this year.

Round 1

What is up bloggers and non-bloggers? My name is JB and welcome to my rant...err...blog. My aim is for a little bit of comedy/sports/real world (not the crappy MTV show) in one nice package...giggity. Little about myself, I am originally from Colorado and if there is a sports team in Colorado, you better believe I follow them!

Alright, let's begin.

Oldie, but still a goodie:

The only time I will discuss the Michael Vick issue: Leave the man alone! How often do you see a famous person actually spend time in FEDERAL PRISON for something they did? Answer: Rarely. He has admitted what he did was wrong and disgusting, yet certain groups that will not be named, PETA, is determined to derail a man, who served his time for his crime, from making a comeback in his profession. Now I understand that people love their pets...I would love to own a dog...but the fact that someone who is convicted and served his time and is going to try to do the right thing from now on is going to be continually harassed by people is absolutely crazy.

With all this "outcry" against Vick, I have one question...WHAT ABOUT STALLWORTH?

Dante Stallworth had some adult beverages, became impaired, and drove...oh yeah, he hit and killed a guy! Yet, the outrage is with Vick? Stallworth is sentenced to 27 days in county jail, serving 24 and being released on "Good Behavior." No one has an issue with this? According to AAA, almost 13,000 people were killed by a driver operating a vehicle while intoxicated. I personally have lost 2 friends to drunk drivers, yet when a famous person does it, they get a 27 day sentence and out in 24 because of good behavior. So killing a human life is not equal to dog fighting...in fact, it’s less than that. Obscured.

Now on to more recent events. Plaxico Burressis going to jail for 2 years for being dumb enough to carry a loaded gun in the waistband of sweatpants and shooting himself...again, 2 years for shooting yourself, 24 days for hitting and killing a guy while driving intoxicated...no comment.

Lighter news:

The 15th unassisted triple play in MLB history happened yesterday when 2B Eric Bruntlett of the Phillies caught a line drive by Jeff Francoeur, touched 2nd, and tagged the runner coming from first. It was the 2nd ever unassisted triple play to end the game.

Homer News:

Rockies are 3.5 games back in the NL West and 3 up in the NL Wild Card Race after a HUGE game against the SF Giants where a 2 run shot by Seth Smith lifted the Rockies past Tim Lincecum and the Giants.

Broncos are still looking shaky in the preseason with new coach Josh McDannials at the helm.  Orten isn't the answer, Sims isn't either. This whole fiasco could have, and should have, been prevented. Broncos are 0-2 in preseason with one of the tougher schedules in the NFL coming up.

Cutler makes his return to the Mile High City on 8/30 where 76,000 Boo-Birds are flocking to give him his proper "welcome back" greating!

Potomac Nationals are 1.5 games back from the 2nd half championship and playoff berth behind the blue rocks of Wilmington.
